Sugar 3 app for iPhone and iPad

Sugar³ is an educational tool that supports children with type 1 diabetes within Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trusts services. Using both this app and our website, it forms part of the care pathway and provides accessible diabetes education.

Our aims are to: improve diabetes education, support young people to self-care and stay healthy, encourage better disease management and avoid long-term complications.

Sugar³ supports the whole care journey and includes: educational videos and booklets; quizzes to test young peoples knowledge; requests for face-to-face and Skype appointments; latest news; trackers and tools; and materials, support and links to further information.

It has been developed by diabetes nurse specialists and young people with the condition at all stages of the journey – including naming the project; the design, artwork and feel; procurement and the topics of education.

Sugar³ is currently only available to young people who are under the care of Pennine Cares diabetes services.
